Welcome to our Lane Cove Week in Review, for 8 to 14 August 2016
The 2016 Cameraygal Festival Launches
This years Cameraygal Festival launched on Friday afternoon, with a fabulous party for the kids in Lane Cove Plaza. There was a very fun disco, with inflatable guitars for the kids to play; free face painting; arts & crafts; free cupcakes; and hula hooping demos and lessons for all.
Later on was the launch of the Lane Cove Art awards and exhibition at Gallery Lane Cove (the exhibition runs until Sunday 21 August). Then it was back to the plaza for some fabulous jazz with Judy Bailey and her Big Connection Jazz Band.
Find out our top ten must do events during the Cameraygal Festival here.
Filming in the Plaza
On Thursday, the crew from Sydney Weekender were filming in and around Lane Cove Plaza, getting ready for a segment due to screen in early September, promoting the upcoming Lane Cove Coffee Carnevale (on Saturday 10 September).
Parking
The give way sign at the entrance of the Rosenthal Avenue car park has been moved. The car entering the car park no longer has to give way. This is annoying for the cars who have been circling the car park. It must have been changed to stop the bottleneck at the entrance.
Last Monday, there was reports of a pedestrian being hit by a car in The Woolies Market Square car park. Thankfully the person was ok. The car park was in gridlock at school pick-up time due to the incident.

Missing Post Boxes
Australia Post has removed the red post box on the corner of Longueville and Alpha Roads, Lane Cove, along with at least two others in the Lane Cove Council Area. Is this a cost reduction, or are they being upgraded?! We are investigating.

Assault – Lane Cove
Police are investigating an assault that took place in a shopping centre car park located on Austin Street, Lane Cove.
It is alleged that at around 12.45pm on Thursday 4th August a 50 year old male from Greenwich was waiting for a car parking space to be vacated by another vehicle. As the male went to enter the parking space, an unknown (at this stage) male has driven into the space. The 50 year old male becoming annoyed at this, got out of his vehicle and approached the unknown male. The males exchanged words in a heated conversation before the unknown male has allegedly struck the 50 year old on the face with a shopping bag and left the location.
The incident was witnessed by several persons in the vicinity who have since spoken to police.
The 50 year old male later reported the incident to police and police are currently following up investigations to the incident. If anyone else observed the incident they are also asked to contact Chatswood Police.
