Super Mix Juicery – New Concept in Lane Cove

Super Mix Juicery opened in Lane Cove in March 2015. It’s great to see a different type of shop in Lane Cove. If you are an avid ITC reader (and if you’re not: why not????), you will know that any time ITC mentions the possibility of a new shop; Facebook Fans are quick to say please NO more chemists, hairdressers or chain stores. They like the ones we have.

Super Mix Juicery is the brainchild of Manav and Matthew. Manav is a Greenwich* local and a fitness fanatic. Manav and Matt thought long and hard about where to locate their new juice and smoothie shop, but in the end they knew Lane Cove was the place for their new concept.

Super Mix Juicery offers both superfood smoothies and cold press juices. Well-known naturopath, Belinda Kirkpatrick, designed the menu. So what is cold pressed juice and why is it different to the juice ITC could make at home in her 15-year-old blender? According to an article in www.mindbodyandsoul.com.au Cold press juices “contain more vitamins, minerals and enzymes than those made with a traditional centrifugal machine. It’s all in the method, apparently, as the fresh fruit and vegetables are, as the name suggests, “pressed” so the maximum amount of nectar is extracted from the pulp and fibre, leaving a raw and fresh juice.”

One of the most popular juices is the Sunset Crush (pineapple, watermelon and orange).  The most popular smoothie is the Raw Choc Bliss.

It’s a hard job but somebody has to do it, so ITC put the Sunset Crush to the test. Guess what?? I actually liked it ( and I’m not usually a big juice drinker). The drink was easy to sip and not full of pulp. This may not be to everyone’s taste, but to ITC that made the drink taste light and refreshing.

The good news is that the juices/smoothies come in three sizes. There is also a kid friendly size for the juices ($4.00) . There is a loyalty system in place and you receive the 7th drink free.

smj 2Super Mix Juicery has big plans and the next step is to introduce some soups to the menu. The first soup they will be serving up is Bone Broth. What is that (I hear you ask)? Well ITC had no idea what Bone Broth was, but after using the young people’s tool (the internet), ITC discovered it’s the latest trend to hit the USA.  This is the line up for bone broth in New York earlier this year. (At this stage I am tempted to write No Soup for You but that would be showing my age).  According to Wellness Mama  “Bone Broth (or technically, stock) is a mineral rich infusion made by boiling bones of healthy animals with vegetables, herbs and spices. You’ll find a large stock pot of broth/stock simmering in the kitchen of almost every 5-star restaurant for its great culinary uses and unparalleled flavor.”

Super Mix Juicery also likes to employ locals and they have an enthusiastic team of juicers (hmm if a barista makes coffee what do you call a person who makes cold pressed juice/smoothies). What is the collective noun for a group of juicers?

So why not give them a try and see what you think? Let ITC know if you like the cold pressed juices or the smoothies.

To celebrate opening  in Lane Cove, Super Mix Juicery is giving away to one lucky person a prize of week’s supply of Juices (limit one juice per day).  All you have to do is like Super Mix Juicery Facebook page and then comment below in 25 words or less what your favourite Super Mix Juicery Juice or Smoothie name is and why. Competition closes on 31 May 2015.

* Just like Australia claims Russell Crowe and Crowded House as their own, ITC claims Greenwich residents as Lane Cove residents as they are located in the Lane Cove Council Area.

    • Thank you Lucas for picking that up – I think I got so excited about it being like the Seinfeld episode I got a bit sidetracked. I have updated the blog and here is what it is
