The Cake Man is now open for Dinner.  Soon he will be open for Breakfast and Lunch.  As with all new restaurants, there is a settling in period, so once they have hit their strides, we will send a roving reporter to do a secret review and let you know their feedback. The Den

The Den is Lane Cove’s newest wine bar.  With the opening of the Den, Lane Cove has doubled its number of wine bars!!  (Yes we now have two – The Den and Unwined).  The Den is located above the new Dinner with the Cake Man premises.   On a cold, cold night, it will be nice to sip a wine (or two/three) in front of the fireplace.  It is not open every night but it is definitely open Friday and Saturday night.

L’Italiano

Lane Cove has a new Italian restaurant. L’Italiano is located in the old Taiki Japanese Restaurant site on Longueville Road (close to the Longueville Hotel). As soon as you walk in the door, you’ll be impressed by the wood fired pizza oven.   A few ITC fans have already tried out the restaurant (ITC’s Facebook fans are early adopters!!!). So far, there has only been good comments about the food (however, as with all new restaurants, there are a few teething issues to work on).

Le Beouf

Le Beouf is a pop up restaurant located on the ground floor of the Unwined Bar. The ITC family gives this restaurant the thumbs up!! The steak melts in your mouth, the pomme frites (or as most people would say the French Fries) are crunchy. They meal with a secret sauce (you will not pry the recipe out of owner Kirk even if you tried). Celebrities are flocking to eat there (okay so two people from Channel NIne – were seen there)!!

The Village Shopping Centre (aka the mall across from Coles)

We predict that the Village Shopping Centre is about to undergo a renaissance. Ever since Renegade Cycles, relocated to 161 Burns Bay Road, the foot traffic in this mall seems to have declined.  Now we the opening of two new businesses this mall may now become a go to destination.

Fear No Ink

Lane Cove, its official, we now have our very own tattoo parlour!!  Fear No Ink has opened in the arcade across from Coles. They are located next door to Caesars Pizzeria & Italian Restaurant.  ITC has posted a few times about Fear No Ink and the feedback we’ve received has been more positive than negative.  In fact, a couple of people said they were pleased they no longer had to cross the Bridge for a tattoo.  Fear No Ink actually looks like a hairdresser or nail bar (very slick and modern). So if a Tattoo is your thing, you know where to go in Lane Cove.  [ITC will not be getting a tattoo, I wince when a band aid comes off!]

Giftoy has also closed (however the owners have purchased a newsagency in Crows Nest and they will be stocking the newsagency with some of the stock they had in Lane Cove – ITC wishes them good luck with their new venture.

Aristocrat45041976_JIpvRyTuqtRKVgfGxIAv3Py0TCkXOQaA0XTophAJKA8

In about six to seven week’s time, Aristocrat will be closing (end of their lease). Nick and Paul have operated Aristocrat for 20 years (if you would like to know more about Aristocrat read our blog). Nick is looking forward to spending more time with his kids (and actually seeing some school sport). ITC wishes them good luck in the future.

Acacia Designer Living (located in the mall opposite Coles)

Acacia Designer Living is closing. They were previously located in Beecroft. They are now relocating to a store located in the Upper North Shore. Pop in and see they before they close as they are holding a relocation sale.
IMG_8953One Village Shop

ITC is very sad to hear that One Village Shop is closing down.  Yumi (the owner) is delightful and really believes in sustainable, ethical and fair trade products.  A closing date has not been set so please pop in and see Yumi.  She has some amazing products that you cannot buy anywhere else in Lane Cove.  The good news is that Yumi will not be leaving Lane Cove, she will be setting up an online store.  So if you love her products, you will still be able to source them locally.

Lodge Tapas – Mexican Fiesta Time

Did you know that Lane Cove now has it’s own Mexican Restaurant? Every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 5pm, Lodge is hosting its very own Mexican Nights, serving authentic food (fresh fajitas, taco spiced rice, and Mexican beef short rib), plus beers, sangria and of course, cocktails from south of the border. Don’t forget, the little amigos eat free (from their own kids menu) from Monday – Thursday with a paying adult.

Now here is even bigger news, ITC has just found out that the Lodge is Licensed and also BYO. So if you’d like to bring your own wine to accompany your next meal you can do so!!

Kidstuff

Have you seen the big relocation sale banner outside Kidstuff?  This popular toy store is relocating to Lane Cove Market Square (they will be next to Hudsons and Eyes For You and will occupy 2 stores). Here is a sneaky shot ITC took of the construciton crew working on the fitout  (you just can’t hold me back!!)

IMG_8899Agora (now known as Agora IGA Express)

Agora is now called Agora IGA Express.  Now you can pop into Agora and pick up more than just fruit and veg.  They have subleased their deli section out to powerhouse butcher PJ.  If you meet PJ you will never forget him.  The man is so passionate about his products.  His motto is no nasties, no numbers.  The business is called Grassland Butchers.  PJ will deliver anywhere in Lane Cove – just call him on 0457 601 177.  He sources his meat from the family farm and they have their own smallgoods factory and smokehouse (paddock to plate)10984077_1134879413195353_5664891046697836139_nIMG_8615

Jack & Co

Jack & Co is a new concept in the petrol retailing trade.  Instead of walking into a servo to pay for the petrol and buy a mag and an ice block, you are now walking into a beautiful convenience store and paying for your petrol.  They have a barista and extensive range of food and groceries (including prepared meals – where you assemble rather than cook).  Check them out and see what you think.

Flute Connections

Flute Connections will not only be your one stop shop if you play the flute, you are now also be able to buy nearly all the music supplies you need. They are launching a sister business which will be called Lane Cove Music Supplies. This will be great. Miss ITC plays the Saxophone;  I’m always told, at the last minute,  she needs some new reeds or a new music book. (Hint to all parents: if your child is deciding on which musical instrument to play, make it an instrument that is easy to carry like the flute or clarinet. I’ve put my back out lifting Miss ITC’s saxophone.)

For years, this shop, had out the front a life size Native American figure or an Elvis Figure – that was our landmark.  ITC noticed  a new sign  offering furniture repairs and knife sharpening.
