The A–Z of Lane Cove – A is for Aquatic Leisure Centre

There is so much going on ITC, and so many great local businesses and things to do, we decided to blog the ‘A to Z’ of Lane Cove.  If you know of a business or activity that should be featured please feel free to email us at [email protected]
So, let’s go!

A is for Aquatic Leisure Centre

If you live in or around Lane Cove, there is a good chance you have had reason to visit the Lane Cove Aquatic Leisure Centre. Be it to swim a few laps in one of the lap-pools or have a splash in the leisure pool; training a future champion swimmer with the Carlile swim school; taking a class at the BlueFit Health Club; or cheering on your little fish/es at a school swimming carnival.

The centre is owned by Lane Cove Council, and managed by BlueFit. Over the past year or so there has been extensive renovations to the centre, which has made the indoor aquatic area a much lighter and brighter place to be, and has expanded and improved the BlueFit Health Club.

The centre is also home to a new cafe, which has a decent range of healthy and not so healthy options. It is nice to be able to grab a coffee and sit out on the new sun terrace, overlooking the 50m outdoor pool. There is also a very popular crèche, which gets a big thumbs up from the local parents who use it.

Not so new and shiny, unfortunately, are the pool toilets and change rooms, which were supposed to be renovated as part of the whole centre over-haul, along with the sauna, steam room and spa. The word on the street is that someone is dragging their heels on this one…. such a shame, as those change rooms are pretty manky.

Anyhoo, for the most part, the Lane Cove Aquatic Leisure Centre is looking pretty good, and once the redevelopment of the Little Lane carpark across the road is completed, parking will be less of a headache and access will be improved even more, with a foot bridge connecting the carpark direct to the centre.

Would love to hear what you like/loathe about the Aquatic Leisure Centre?
