Figtree Greengrocer Lane Cove West Fine Food Fair 5 Dec 2015

Christmas is coming and you may want to start thinking about what to include on your festive Menu.  It pays to be prepared, so mark Saturday the 5th of December in your diary as the date of Figtree Greengrocer’s fabulous Fine Food Fair 2015.

There will be over 20 stalls to tantalise your taste buds.  Don’t eat too much breakfast, as there will be lots of complimentary samplings of cheese, dips, oils, meats, condiments and vinegars.

Also at the Fine Food Fair, fellow Lane Cove West business, Hummerstons Gourmet Meats, will be offering some tasty morsels to devour (and you can pick up your Christmas Meat Order Form).

So what will you be tasting at the fair:

Meredith Dairy Goat Cheese will have samples for you to taste.  In ITC’s humble opinion you can’t go past Meredith Dairy Goat Cheese (basically I put it on every salad I have).  It is so creamy!!

Roza’s Gourmet Sauces is a family run business that “lovingly creates an extensive range of gourmet sauces and dips. From humble beginnings in the kitchen of her residence, Roza Robertson and her recipes pioneered the gourmet sauce industry in Queensland. What began in 1991 as a simple way for the then-housewife to indulge her passion for cooking quickly became a burgeoning business, as an increasing customer base took pride in purchasing Roza’s Gourmet Sauces from the end of her driveway.”

Roza is proud to support independent gourmet grocers like Figtree Greengrocer. They are committed to manufacturing the products locally, using primarily locally sourced ingredients, keeping jobs and opportunities within the local Australian community.

The delicious range consists of 40 products including varieties of mayonnaises, mustards, pestos, chutneys, chilli sauces and dips – all of which are gluten-free, made with fresh natural ingredients and free from artificial preservatives. In addition, most sauces are made with cholesterol-free oils and sweetened with bush honey, while all of the mayonnaise is made exclusively with fresh free-range eggs. In keeping with various lifestyle and dietary requirements, there are plenty of vegan, dairy free and sugar free options within the range.

These Gourmet Dips can be used in so many ways.  Here is a quick way to make a tasty tart.

Michael’s Fine Foods Spinach, Cheese & Artichoke Dip Tarts

Serves 4-6

Mix together 1 egg and half a tub of Michael’s Fine Foods Spinach, Cheese & Artichoke Dip. Either put a dollop on a round of puff pastry in a small cupcake tin or spread over a whole sheet of pastry, roll up and cut into 2cm lengths. Bake in a moderate oven for 10-15 minutes.

In addition to tasting some lovely samples, you will be able to meet the author of The Greengrocers Diet. Katrina Mills from Body Fusion Lane Cove reviewed this Diet for us a few months ago you can find out more here. Unlike fad diets, this diet differs because it was written, tested and created for a group of Aussie fruit shop owners who author Judy Davie saw regularly at the fresh fruit and veg markets in Sydney. The approach is focused on buying what is in season, building relationships with your local food suppliers as well as trimming down.
