Council Amalgamations

This week the NSW Government announced its amalgamation plans.  The State Government has been pushing for a merger between Ryde, Hunters Hill and Lane Cove.  Lane Cove Council survived the first round of amalgamations.  It’s only a matter of time……….

ITC bumped into the three independent Lane Cove Councillors having “the last supper” at The Lodge this week. It’s highly unlikely that a Liberal Government will select an independent for a position on the new mega council.

Crime

This week, the North Shore Times reported that Justin Patey (a Lane Cove local) had his wallet stolen from his pocket when he was shopping at Coles in late April. Pickpockets are out and about in Lane Cove supermarkets.  According to the North Shore LAC – NSW Police Force they are only aware of three incidents. We say stay alert and watch your belongings when shopping.  Find out more here.

Three large trees in Lane Cove North were deliberately poisoned.  If you have any information in relation to this incident please contact the Willoughby City Council.

On Thursday, a car was broken into in Lane Cove North and a suspicious person was seen lurking around other car ports in the Johnston Crescent/Tantallon/Fraser Street area of Lane Cove North. A roving reporter  asked ITC to warn people to lock their cars and not to leave valuables in their cars overnight. The police were notified.

Accidents

The notorious River Road and Northwood Road intersection was again the scene of a collision on Thursday Night.

This week In the Cove posted a video of the Gore Hill Freeway merge.  ITC hates this merge.  Scary is the word. We had an overwhelming response to the Video, with people saying how dangerous the merge is.  The biggest query is why the T2 lane continues past this merge.  ITC will write to RMS about this merge.

Rat Run

The residents of Karilla Avenue are concerned their street is being used as a rat run by commuters. The increase in apartments on Mowbray Road and Centennial Avenue has led to an increase in traffic along a suburban road. The Lane Cove Council will be discussing this issue at their meeting on 16th May.  See the agenda item here.

Pollution

On Friday night the Lane Cove Council  issued the following advice:

“Gore Creek Reserve and Bob Campbell Oval are currently closed due to a pollution event. We will provide an update as soon as the park is open again”.

Did we miss anything important this week?  Please let us know!!!!!!!!!!

Sporting Injury???

Did you play sport on the weekend and injure yourself?  We hope not.  However, we know from experience that the older you get the more likely a sporting injury will occur.

Lane Cove Physio is once again holding a Monday Night Sports injury clinic during the winter sports season. It is essentially free as the clinic. They will bulk bill  those with private health cover ie. you just swipe your Health Benefits card with nothing extra to pay.

In that session, you will have your injury assessed, told what to do to get it better and given an indication when you can go back to training/playing.

Please call ahead just to confirm you are coming. The clinic will go from 5-6.30pm.

Don’t let your injury keep you on the sidelines. Get it sorted the first time around and have a great season!
