Sydney Buses Announce a New Route 289 to Service Mowbray Road

Mowbray Road Bus to Go Via Interchange

In the Cove has been very vocal about Lane Cove public transport issues.  Our In the Cove followers have contacted the NSW Minister for Transport and our local member to complain about the overcrowding on buses and the lack of buses along Mowbray Road.

Sydney Buses have introduced a “new” peak hour bus that will start at the Lane Cove Industrial Estate and will travel along Mowbray Road and Centennial Avenue and through the Lane Cove interchange.  The new route details and timetables can be found here.

The new peak hour service will take over some 285 routes.

Earlier this year representatives from the NSW Department of Transport, our local State Member, Anthony Roberts and In the Cove road the peak hour buses. The purpose of this trip was to show the Department of Transport, the overcrowding, and queues in Lane Cove.  The Department of Transport is relying on OPAL card data to schedule buses.  The OPAL card data only reveals when a person gets on and off a bus and does not show the waiting time at bus stops.  It does not show how many full buses go past a bus stop.  A report is due to be presented mid-June.

What do you think?  Will this make it easier for Lane Cove North residents?
