Lane Cove Week in Review – 15 to 21 August 2016

Welcome to our Lane Cove Week in Review, for 15 to 21 August 2016

Car Accidents a plenty

Another bingle was reported during the week at the junction of Centennial Avenue, at Barwon and Figtree. We can’t believe this intersection is not listed in Council’s Top 10 Black Spots in Lane Cove.

How many more accidents and near misses are needed before changes are made at these lights?

Sad Farewell

On Friday, Story Espresso was sold, and owner Jean moved on to new ventures. He made this announcement on Saturday

Dear Story family,
Yesterday marked a very sad day for us at Story. As of yesterday we decided to part and hand over the business to another young and passionate family. It was a sensitive time so we could not make any prior announcements. I hope that you can all understand.

So with a glass (of coffee) I will say cheers and farewell to all of you amazing people that have supported me during those 4 wonderful years. It was all of you that helped create this great story – the community, the memories, the laughs, the friendships and of course the great stories that were shared amongst us. So a massive thank you to each and everyone one of you. Please do not let this stop you for you continued support for story love Jean

Car Wash for a Cause

Car Wash for a Cause was held on Sunday, and by all reports was a great success. Fitness Revelation washed feverishly throughout the day, whilst Jack & Co kept car owners caffeinated while they waited.

Crime Report

This week’s North Shore LAC Crime Report:-

Stalking – Lane Cove West

Between 6.30am and 6.50am on Monday 8th August a 23 year old female from Sydney was seated on a bus from Wynyard to Lane Cove. During this time, a male has sat next to the female and started a conversation, to which the female politely declined to answer any questions. The same male then approached the female at the Wynyard bus stop the following day trying to organise a date, to which she again declined.

Around 6.30am on Monday 15th August the female got off at her normal stop and noticed the unknown male get off with her. The male is described as being in his 20’s, black African appearance, 165 – 175cm, unshaven with facial stubble, solid to medium build, wearing a dark coloured plain baseball cap (with a button on the left side) wearing an orange hi visibility work shirt, dark pants and work boots, he is said to have spoken with an African accent.

The male has continued to follow the female, calling out to her and asking to speak with her. The female told the male she was late for work and then observed him running towards her. The female, feeling unsafe, has run towards her workplace and entered the building. The female has later reported the incident to police.
