Lane Cove Golf Club Charity Pro Am 2016

Lane Cove Golf Club to Host the 26th Charity Golf Pro Am 2016

On Wednesday 21 September 2016 the Lane Cove Golf Club will stage its annual Charity Pro Am. This will be the 26th year the popular event has been held in Lane Cove

The first Charity Pro Am was held in 1991 with proceeds donated to the Sunshine Home.

From 1992 onwards Lane Cove & North Side Community Services has been the beneficiary of the proceeds. The Country Club and its sponsors are very proud of the support they have provided to the Lane Cove Community and more than $160,000 has been raised up to 2015.

The format of a Pro Am gives amateur golfers a chance to play a round of golf alongside professionals.

The sponsors of the Pro Am are also invited to play in the event and their businesses are promoted in the club house on the day and throughout the year. Lane Cove Country Club is very grateful to the local sponsors already committed for this year’s event and recognises them as valued supporters of the Lane Cove Community:

The Club also extends its grateful thanks to Lane Cove Council and its staff.

The Club only has this one opportunity each year to have a group of visiting professional golfers on the course.  It is an occasion to ensure the Club can demonstrate its capacity to plan and implement a professional golfing event to the professional golf community, to members, to sponsors and to the local community.

Whilst Lane Cove is an 11-hole course and can only accommodate around 40 professional golfers, there has usually been an excess of that number of professional golfers applying to play in the Pro Am.

The Professional golfers find Lane Cove Golf Course a refreshing challenge as it is a short course with a very tight playing area.

It is a very enjoyable day starting at 6.40am and concluding with a “shoot-out” at 5.00pm where the professionals aim to land their ball as close to the pin on the 18th green as possible to the applause of the crowd and the “pot of gold”

This will be followed by a performance from the Manly Warringah Pipe Band who has twice performed at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, most recently in 2015.
