Melbourne Cup is on Tuesday, the 1st of November 2016.
It is the race that stops a nation. Well, maybe it used to when it was run at around 2.45pm (back in the day), but a 3pm race time means school pick-up time for many and an interruption to those champagne focused festivities.
That said, just being a part of the Melbourne Cup hype is fun, and a great excuse to get together with a group of friends for lunch, gossip, and to show off your new fascinator. You can find fascinators at Found or Zjoosh.

No need to buy a totally new outfit. Play it safe with black, but accessorise like a Queen. Make it special with a statement necklace or crystal choker and a glamorous crystal cuff – finish off with a fascinator.

The Lane Cove Golf Club
Enjoy the Melbourne Cup against the backdrop of the beautiful Lane Cove Golf Club. The luscious greens may inspire you to pick the winner or you could just be a winner playing 9 holes of golf.

The Longueville Sporting Club (aka The Diddy)
The Diddy is holding a Melbourne Cup Luncheon, with bookings from 1pm. Enjoy a drink and one of the popular meals from Charles Bistro (Mr ITC loves the Tandoori Lamb Backstrap!). Read more about the event here.
Screen on the Green
For those just wanting to watch the racing, a big screen will be set up at Lane Cove Plaza, broadcasting from 2pm-4pm
