Lane Cove Week in Review – 17 to 23 Oct 2016

Welcome to our Lane Cove Week in Review, for 17 to 23 October 2016.

It felt like we were living in Melbourne this week, what a huge range of temperatures!!!

Traffic Changes

The residents of Mowbray were excited this week to see the lights at the crossroads of Mowbray Road and Hatfield Street working.  This will make it safer for kids walking to school.

Farewell to the long term owners of Lane Cove Poolmart

Goodbye to Richard and Christine Diaz, the owners of Lane Cove Poolmart (since 1978) who are moving on. The new owner is David Cameron with a handover date of Oct 24th. One of our roving reporters told us:

“They’ve done an amazing job of looking after our pool for many years. I’m sure there are lots of locals who would like to wish them the very best.”

One Facebook wit thought that David Cameron just wanted to get away from all the BREXIT talk – we are pretty sure the new owner is another David Cameron.

You can find out more about the Burns Bay Shops here.

Can you help Kindy Cove?

KINDY COVE is turning the big 40!! To celebrate this milestone Kindy Cove is putting together a collage of photos. However, they have very few photos from the 70’s 80’s and 90’s when the centre was formerly known as Lane Cove Child Care Centre. If you have any photos can you please email them to [email protected].

Yarn Bombing in Lane Cove

Did you see that Lane Cove’s fabulous Yarn Bomber, Cee, was on the front page of the North Shore Times? You can read more about her here.
LJ Hooker Lane Cove sold a Greenwich home (which will be knocked down) for a huge price – these crazy prices just keep coming!!!!  You can find out more here.

Another Accident at Northwood and Longueville Road

A man will appear in Hornsby Local Court charged with drink driving after he allegedly took out the traffic signal at the corner of Northwood and Longueville Road.  Allegedly the man continued with the traffic signal on the roof of his car for another 75m.  He refused a breath test.

Bridge and River Road Accident

When it is wet, you can guarantee there will be an accident on the Bridge and River Road Corner.  A resident told us they head about 10 cars skidding around the corner in the wet conditions.  A good reminder to slow down at that bend in the road.
