It was a very wet and soggy start to Autumn this week in Lane Cove. The rain is set to continue for the coming week. Be careful on the roads.
Plaza Roof Cracking Up
A pane of glass broke in the plaza this week in the 4th Fish outdoor eating area. Apparently, this is the third pane to break since the plaza was revamped. How much is that costing ratepayers?
Lane Cove West Shops Lose Power Due to a Traffic Incident
Last Monday, all the shops in Lane Cove West were closed due to a power line coming down after it was hit by a truck.
Heavy Rains Has Impact on Greenwich Baths Water Quality
Nippers was cancelled this week due to the water quality at Greenwich Baths. Water quality is suitable for swimming for most of the time, but due to the presence of several potential sources of faecal contamination, swimming should be avoided following rainfall.
Lane Cove Council Ask Residents for Their Feedback on Village Traffic Changes
Last Monday, it took ITC 10 minutes to travel from Coles to Apple Dental. We keep hearing feedback about how congested the village is during peak hour. What is the best way to resolve these traffic issues? Have your say on Council’s options to improve traffic flow – view the plans, complete the survey. For example, Lane Cove Council is proposing to install traffic lights at the intersection of Burns Bay Road, Tambourine Bay Road and Coxs Lane. This is designed to improve traffic flow via Coxs Lane, away from the village centre precinct.
The following considerations will need to be taken into account:
Reduced congestion within the village centre
Improved pedestrian safety and connectivity with signal controlled crossing
Potential loss of some on-street parking in the approach to the signals
Improved traffic flow to Epping Road
Acquisition of land to allow for minimum lane widths
Removal of approximately 5 street trees
Lane Cove Council Rejects 130 Bed Aged Care Facility at Northwood
Lane Cove Council has rejected a proposal for a 130 Bed Aged Care Facility in Northwood. One of the reasons for rejecting the proposal was parking and traffic issues. You can read more about their decision here.
Botched Asbestos Removal Job
This is how one resident secured a site after work was done on the footpath near the Stringy Bark Day Care Centre. A concerned resident contacted the Lane Cove Council, the EPA and ComCare. Apparently pieces of Asbestos could be seen.
Crime Report
The LAC North Shore did not report any crimes in the Lane Cove Council area this week.
