Celebrate Neighbour Day 2017 in Lane Cove

You know the song, everyone needs good neighbours. Neighbour Day 2017 is on Sunday 26 March 2017. It’s the day to celebrate our community. Here are just some of the activities you can participate in on Neighbour Day.

Organise your own Neighbour Day ‘Do’

Lane Cove Council is offering apartment blocks in Lane Cove the opportunity to receive free BBQ and Morning/Afternoon Tea catering packs to assist with hosting their own Neighbour Day event. The Catering Packs are very impressive and supplied by local businesses.

BBQ Pack

Each BBQ pack includes meat and onion based on three serves per person from a local butcher and a gift card* to a local supermarket for other supplies such as bread, butter, sauces etc. Cards cannot be redeemed on alcohol and a receipt for the purchased goods will need to be provided to Council as part of the conditions of funding being provided.

Morning or Afternoon Tea Pack

Each Morning or Afternoon Tea pack includes sweet and savoury options based on three serves per person. A gift card* is also made available for purchasing of tea, coffee, milk etc. Cards cannot be redeemed on alcohol and a receipt for the purchased goods will need to be provided to Council as part of the conditions of funding being provided.

Hiring of BBQ

In some instances Council will be able to provide access to a hired BBQ facility. Where this is the case the terms and conditions of hire will be provided in writing to the event organiser prior to the delivery of the BBQ. Failure to meet these terms and conditions will result in Council seeking funds to pay for any expenses incurred.

*In some cases local supermarkets may elect to donate the items rather than provide a physical gift card.

Welcome a New Neighbour to Lane Cove

Lane Cove Council has free Welcome Packs available and this March a new ‘Connect’ booklet for people from diverse backgrounds is being launched including an online version available in Farsi, Hindi and Simplified Chinese. This will be released in time for Lane Cove’s Autumn Harmony activities which start in early March.

Bake Your Neighbour A Cake

In the Cove is encouraging everyone to bake one of their neighbours a cake. In the lead up to Neighbour Day we will publish easy recipes for you to follow.  On Neighbour Day we would love to see a photo of you delivering your cake to your neighbour.  The best photo will receive an In the Cove prize pack (that includes one of our famous tea towels)
