Before sending your computer off to be recycled be sure to erase all sensitive data. Do a low level format to be certain the data is not going to be retrievable by anyone. You can download free tools from your PC manufacturer to do this, here are some handy results from Google for PC users. If you are an Apple Macinstosh user then simply boot off the OSX installer disks and choose ‘Zero All Data‘ from the Disk Utility on the disk.

The Lane Cove Sustainability Group is will collect E-Waste on behalf of residents who are, for valid reasons, not able to drop E-Waste items of themselves. Please contact team member Pierre 0413-606 366 with details and our team will collect the items on Saturday Morning between 9.30 and 11.00 am.

If you see any abandoned E-Waste items in the Lane Cove area please call Sjirk and they will pick it up.

As our love affair with all things electronic continues the related E-waste stream grows alongside our desire to have the latest, the fastest and the coolest item. The vast majority of E-Waste still ends up in landfill.

The Lane Cove Sustainability Action Group continues to campaign for a permanent, easily accessible location in Lane Cove where residents can drop off E-Waste ahead of the proposed National E-Waste Scheme.
