Len Wallis Audio – keeping Lane Cove up to date on the latest and greatest!

Occasionally we come across what we consider to be a remarkable buy, and the Yamaha Restio ISX803D is exactly that.  It is not often you find an audio system that also looks like a design installaiton.

This is a delightfully sounding free standing audio system that includes FM and DAB+ radio, CD, USB input, Bluetooth, alarm, amplifier and a two-way four-driver speaker array in a very attractive package.

This unit is now in its third generation, and when initially released it sold for $999. It was later repriced at $799, and at that price represented exceptional value.

We are now selling the ISX803D for $499.

The ISX803D is indicative of some of the changes that are taking place in this industry.

For decades consumers were faced with two choices.

  • A traditional component Hi-Fi system, with multiple boxes and cables plus the associated price tag.
  • An inexpensive midi-system and the associated disappointing sound quality.

The Yamaha ISX803 still does not have the absolute performance of a quality component system – but it does sound very good, and at a fraction of the price.

Importantly it is also a great design – Audio Affair opened their write-up under the heading ‘’Wireless Beauty: Yamaha’s new speaker is a work of art’.

Integrating an audio system into the décor of your home can be a challenge so it is refreshing when we see a manufacturer putting real effort into designing outside the box so to speak – especially so when this has not been at the expense of performance or functionality.

Adding to its functional appeal, the ISX803D unit comes complete with the floor-stand plus there is the option of a wall-mount bracket.

We challenge anyone to find a unit that sounds this good, looks this good, has this many features and is this well built for this amount of money!

We certainly don’t know of one. The ISX803D at $499 is an exceptional buy and don’t forget it comes in four different colours. Blue, Brick, Black, White.
