Graffiti Removal Day 2017 – Get Involved Lane Cove

Do you dislike Graffiti? If you do then, Graffiti Removal Day is the day for you to become involved. Sunday 29 October 2017 is Graffiti Removal Day.

What is Graffiti Removal Day?

Graffiti Removal Day was started in 2012 with the aim of highlighting the graffiti problem across NSW and to encourage people to volunteer to remove and prevent graffiti. Graffiti vandalism costs the NSW Government and residents more than $300 million every year and it has to stop.

Last year 597 volunteers worked to remove graffiti from 461 nominated sites. About 90,000sqm of graffiti has been removed by volunteers since 2012. That equals a community service value of about $6.7 million value in savings for private owners and the Government.

On Sunday 29 October 2017, it’s time to take ownership. It’s time to be proud. It’s time to Love Where We Live by taking part in Graffiti Removal Day!

How can you be involved?

It’s easy you can do one (or more) of the following:

Anyone over the age of 12 with the ability to clean off graffiti can volunteer to participate in Graffiti Removal Day.

Which sites would you nominate in Lane Cove?

This truck parked in Austin Street Lane Cove is a graffiti magnet. The truck is parked on private land so it could not be nominated for clean-up (but it is an eyesore).

There is some pretty extensive graffiti at the rear of shops, near the entrance to the Woolies/Market Square Car Park.

What about this quirky graffiti on the old cool room at the rear of that was Rea’s Butcher on Burns Bay Road (next to Spotted Orchid Florist).

This graffiti is on the side of the building near Unwined Bar and Cove Craft.

Also spotted was a small amount of graffiti near Lawrence Dry Cleaners.

We spotted this graffiti heading along the walkway that runs underneath the Pacific Highway, at the top end of Longueville Road.

Not strictly in Lane Cove, but the warehouse buildings along the Gore Hill Freeway (heading towards the city) look awful.
