Animals In the Cove

It all got a bit beastly in Lane Cove this week with a Camel in the plaza and a brush turkey using the pedestrian crossing. The Camel was outside Gelatissimo as they will be introducing a camel milk gelato – stay tuned and we will tell you which flavour soon.

Melbourne Cup

The race that stopped a nation, stopped Lane Cove with the Big Screen on the Green showing the race in the plaza.

Beauty and the Beast

Lane Cove Theatre Company’s production of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, adapted and Directed by Sarah Edwards, opened this week.  You can buy tickets here.

Barking Dogs

If you have a dog in Grace Street or Burns Bay Road Lane Cove make sure it is not constantly barking. This letter was in a letterbox on Grace Street (ironically the owners don’t own a dog). There is nothing worse than a dog barking all the time (and ITC owns a dog), however, this is not the way to deal with a neighbourhood dispute. The first thing to do is to politely approach the owner and point out the issue. If that does not work you can then speak to the Lane Cove Council who can take action (more info here https://inthecove.com.au/2017/09/19/ultimate-guide-to-reporting-lane-cove-local-issues/ ).

Lane Cove in the News

Lane Cove West Public School was in the news this week when the Sydney Morning Herald published figures on the schools that earn the most from renting out their school grounds. ITC assumes that most of this revenue is from OOSH (but it still seems very high).

This week Lane Cove KISS fan, Robyn, appeared on Hard Quiz on the ABC with Tom Gleeson – Yet again Tom stated Lane Cove is the most boring suburb in Sydney. We have put the challenge out for Tom Gleeson to come to Lane Cove. You can watch the episode here.

Crime and Incident Report

Another serious accident at Longueville Road and River Road near the Longueville Sporting Club. Ambulance and Police in attendance. Lane Cove Council and RMS must fix this intersection – ITC personally raised this issue with Anthony Roberts two weeks ago.

A car was broken into when it was parked outside the Diddy (aka Longueville Sporting Club) on Kenneth Street last weekend. The owner had a blue satchel stolen with his MacBook and uni textbooks and study notes inside. If anyone sees the bag can you please contact ITC.

This week, a roving reporter told us that their locked car was broken into on Helen St, Lane Cove North. If you can, keep your car parked in a driveway and get a sensor light installed.
