How fast does a school year go? Summer holidays can be a long long time if there are no planned activities. Time to plan a few activities for the kids to help ensure you all have a fun couple of weeks off school.

Carlile Swimming School Holiday Program

Give your child the best opportunity to boost their water confidence and build on swimming skills. Swimvac tuition with Carlile Swimming is great for kids who need a little more practice or on the verge of promotion.

Brewer Swimming – Intensive Swimming Holiday Programme Riverview

The Summer holidays are a great time to progress swimming skills and prepare for school swimming carnivals.

Brewer Swimming Learn to Swim, Refine Technique and Squad programs are designed to cater for every individual, aiming to develop water confidence, facilitate water safety skills and challenge swimmers to achieve their goals. Brewer Swimming is a boutique, family run swim school creating a personal, trustworthy and familiar experience. Qualified and enthusiastic instructors provide first class instruction, demonstrations, and stroke correction.

Lane Cove Tennis Club – School Holiday Camp

A school holiday tennis camp for children 5 – 17 years will be held from Monday 18th December through to Friday 22 December. Come every day or one or two days. The day’s activities start at 9 am and go till 3 pm. The days are packed with stroke tuition, drills, games and other activities. Led by resident coach, Andrew Scanlan and other accredited tennis coaches.

The camp is aimed at introducing beginners to the game – showing them how to hold a racquet through to strokes. For young players who have had some lessons they will have the opportunity to develop their strokes, learn footwork skills, learn how to score and test their skill in playing games and sets. All children will gain confidence in how to hit a ball, move on the court and play. Racquets are available. Use of orange, green, red and yellow balls. Children are required to bring their own lunch and refreshments.

School Holiday Learn to Sail

Greenwich Sailing Club’s annual learn to sail program is suitable for children from 10 to 14 years old. Over 3 days the students are coached by a professional instructor in all the basics of dinghy sailing. After the training, children are competent to compete in our Sunday afternoon racing series and will receive ongoing coaching through the year. The training fee includes membership of the club for 12 months as well as boat hire until the end of the sailing season.

Little Legends – Multi Sports

Little Legends aims to build a lasting love of exercise through a wide variety of age specific sports, games and activities that are suitable for both girls and boys of all athletic abilities (all children will be kept in age groups throughout the day). They begin the day with warm-up games, throughout the day we rotate between different sports, games and action packed activities which will leave your children asking for more. Some of the games we play include bull rush, relay races, soccer, netball/basketball, capture the flag, music games and many more.

Food Faith Community Garden – Hughes Park

Come along to the Lane Cove community garden on Sunday, Jan 7th to learn about propagating root vegetables, making ‘seed bombs’ and maintaining worm farms and composting systems. Kids will love the activity Nick Farrar is leading. He will show us how to make seed bombs or living time capsules made from clay, worm castings and seeds. Bring along some organic root vegetables such as whole potatoes and ginger and learn about how to simply propagate them in the garden.  Further information here.
