St Aidan’s New Year Open House Festival is Back

Since NYE 2000, St Aidan’s Longueville has held a New Year’s Eve community open house.  The Church arranges a band, snag sizzle and much more.  The festival has proved very popular and in the last 17 years, crowd numbers have continued to grow and grow.   The Church funds the costs of staging the open house festival.

St Aidan’s Longueville is located on the corner of Christina Street and Arabella Street Longueville. It’s an ideal location to watch the New Year’s Eve Sydney Harbour Fireworks.

As part of the festival, Christina Street Longueville is closed to traffic.  Arranging a road closure is not an easy task.  Last year due to advice from the  North Shore Police Command the festival was cancelled.  St Aidans has worked with the police and Lane Cove Council to reinstate the festival.

The event is back on from 6.30 pm till midnight.  All facilities are open (like bathrooms).  There will be a BBQ, entertainment, face painting, entertainment and much more.  One year spontaneous dancing broke out and the party mood was amazing. This is a true community festival organised by the Church for the people of Lane Cove.   You will have a stunning view from 4 different fireworks points from street level as the official music is played on the big screen.

    Tips for Watching the Fireworks

ITC’s biggest tip – don’t drive into Longueville.  After the fireworks finish, there is always a traffic jam (very few exit streets).
