Police Charge Lane Cove Man after Replica Firearms, Cocaine and $83,000 cash seized

Police in Sydney’s Inner West have seized a replica handgun, a replica rifle, cash, and cocaine during a search warrant after arresting a man for alleged drug supply at the weekend.

As part of ongoing targeting of drug supply in the local area, officers from Inner West Police Area Command were conducting proactive patrols in the Marrickville area on Saturday (2 November 2019).

About 10pm, police stopped a Volkswagen Polo on Addison Road, and spoke with the 25-year-old male driver.

During a search of the man and his vehicle, officers located small resealable bags containing cocaine, with a total weight of 14.6g and more than $2300 cash.

The man was arrested and taken to Newtown Police Station.

Shortly after the arrest, investigators executed a search warrant at an apartment at Lane Cove, where they located and seized a replica Glock 18, a replica M4A1-V8 rifle, 150g of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, more than $81,000 cash, and several mobile phones.

In total, the cocaine has an estimated potential street value of more than $60,000.

The Lane Cove man was charged with two counts of possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, two counts of supply prohibited drug, two counts of deal with proceeds of crime, and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.

He was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Bail Court yesterday (Sunday 3 November 2019), where he was formally refused bail to reappear at Newtown Local Court on Tuesday 12 November 2019.
