The Tramsheds is a very popular destination for Sydney Foodies (we confess we left Lane Cove to have lunch there – but only once). When we did venture to the Tramsheds ITC had lunch at Garçon. When we found out that Garçon was coming to Lane Cove, we were a bit excited.
Garçon is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can visit for a casual brunch with family and friends, lunch with mates or dinner on date night – the possibilities are endless (a bit like their bottomless brunch).
Meet The Chef
The Head Chef at Garçon is Guillaume Le Gal.
Guillaume grew up in Brittany, a small town, on the west coast of France. His dad was a fisherman. He was always around seafood cooked to perfection at family meals.
He studied hospitality management and fell in love with cooking. He started work in France then packed his bags to head off to England, then New Zealand and Australia. He made sure he always worked for and with passionate people. His experiences along his journey inspire his food.
Guillaume has lived in Australia for eight years.
His first Australian position as head chef was at Bitton Gourmet. He has also worked at Mr Wong, Loluk and Auvers.
In 2018 Guillaume was a finalist in the Chef of the Year. The Chef of the Year competition director Gary Farrell at the time said:
“The vast number of entries from senior professional chefs demonstrates this title has become one of the most sought-after in the Australian culinary landscape.”
At Garçon, his food philosophy is good French food with a little twist. He wants Garcon’s diners to feel like they are travelling to France for a couple of hours and enjoying a meal with family and friends.
Guillaume told ITC:
“I’m really thankful we have opened in this beautiful neighbourhood with my team of passionate chefs to cook some French classic dishes using seasonal Australian produce.”
We asked Garçon to tell us about some of the dishes that have been a hit with Lane Cove Diners.
