The Lane Cove Fun Run is Back!

The Lane Cove Fun Run is an amazing community event and raises money for the local community and 10% of net proceeds go to Sydney Community Services . The inaugural event was held in 2016 and it was such a success it became an annual event. In fact, the event was so successful journalist and noted author Peter FitzSimmons wrote an article about the Lane Cove Fun Run in the Sydney Morning Herald.  Peter wants other suburbs to get out there and do the same. Covid restrictions sadly meant the 2020 & 2021 were canceled. 2022 is going to be a huge year… lets make up for lost times!

The Lane Cove Fun Run is 100% organised by volunteers and its sponsors are all local businesses who believe in the importance of giving back to their local community.

Win

The event is run by the Lane Cove Public School P&C. However, to encourage all local schools to take part in the race there will be an inter-school challenge.  Last year the inter-school challenge was won by St Michaels Primary School Lane Cove.

All primary and high school students who run give their school the chance of winning the Lane Cove Fun Run Plate. The Plate will be awarded to the top primary and high school overall. Times will be taken for the first 4 runners from each school in both the 2km and 5km event.

There is also a prize that is still to be confirmed from which can be awarded to any pre-school, day-care centre, primary or secondary school. For every student that is entered into the event, their school is given a ticket in the prize draw.

What if I don’t run?

This event caters for all abilities, so you can walk or run the 2km or 5km. We have also partnered with North Shore Running and Fitness who will be providing training programs, regular running groups and will be there for a warmup before the run, and available to talk to after the run for any training tips. For those that don’t run, come and support the runners and join them for the post run entertainment on Kingsford Smith Oval.

What happens after I finish the run?

During and after the run breakfast will be held on the Kingsford Smith Oval. This year we are extending the day with more entertainment and stalls to allow for all the Lane Cove community to come and enjoy the event. The Lane Cove Cats will be hosting a BBQ and games for the children to get involved.

Who has sponsored the event?

The Lane Cove Community is very generous, and the Lane Cove Public School P&C would like to thank all their sponsors.  The 2022 Sponsors so far are:

Lane Cove Showcase

This year the Lane Cove Fun Run will be hosting a showcase of performances by our local community groups after the run.
All local businesses are invited to enter their performances to be showcased on the stage at Kingsford Smith Oval, and parents/spectators are welcome to come and watch for free.
We look forward to seeing our local budding performers, dancers, musicians and actors

Road Closures

The organisers of the Lane Cove Fun Run thank all local residents for their patience, understanding and support during our community event.

Due to road closures, we encourage participants to cycle, walk or scooter from Northwood, Riverview or Lane Cove. Please respect the needs of the residents of Longueville and do not try to find a parking space in Longueville, particularly along William Edward Street which becomes blocked to two-way traffic if cars are parked in both directions. Plenty of public parking is available at council car parks in Lane Cove shops and along Longueville Road north of River Road. From there it is an easy downhill walk to the start of the race.

For the safety of runners there will be full and partial road closures along the entire route of the 2km and 5km events.

We look forward to seeing you on the day as ITC is a big fan of this event.  Thank you to the Lane Cove Council for supporting this event.
