How to Dispose of Household Chemicals

The Community Recycling Centre is a one-stop-shop for safely disposing of problem household wastes such as paint, gas bottles, e-waste or motor oil and more.  In other words, problem wastes that can’t be collected via council kerbside waste or recycling collection services.

It’s a free service and the Community Recycling Centre is conveniently located at 8 Waltham Street Artarmon.  Read more about the Community Recycling Centre (CRC) here.

However the CRC does not take common household chemicals – so how do you dispose of these chemicals properly?

    EPA Chemical Clean Out Events

The safe way to dispose of potentially hazardous household chemicals is at a Household Chemical CleanOut event. These events are free services held across NSW on specified dates.

Use CleanOut to safely dispose of household chemicals that could cause harm to human health and the environment if not disposed of correctly.

What Can I take to a Household Chemical CleanOut Event?

You can take household quantities of the following household chemicals and items – up to a maximum of 20 litres or 20 kilograms of a single item.
