SUMMARY:Cove Connect
DESCRIPTION:Cove Connect — Monthly Coffee Catch-Up\nCove Connect is a casual monthly coffee catch-up bringing Lane Cove locals together\, hosted by the Lane Cove Community Collective\, a community initiative of Lane Cove Rotary. \nHeld on the first Thursday of each month from 7.30am to 9.30am at The Canopy\, outside the lifts\, the drop-in format means there is no set programme and no need to stay the whole time. Locals grab a coffee from a nearby café or bring their own and chat with neighbours\, whether they are heading to work\, doing the school run or new to the area. \nThere is no cost to attend and RSVPs simply help organisers plan for numbers and keep attendees posted if wet weather changes the arrangements. Everyone is welcome\, whether it is a first visit or a regular monthly habit.

SUMMARY:The Plastic Country- Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:Pull up a picnic rug for this screening of The Plastic Country at The Canopy\, Lane Cove\, and learn how you can protect our environment. \n\n\n\n\nThis Film Screening is being presented by Lane Cove Council in partnership with the Sustainability Collective and The Sustainability Hive. While the event is free to attend\, we ask that you register via Eventbrite. \n🎥About the film: Australia is known as the lucky country\, a land girt by sea. But beneath our love for the ocean is a hidden crisis. In The Plastic Country\, Kal Glanznig goes on a journey across Australia to uncover the true impact of plastic on our beaches\, wildlife\, communities and human health. From remote coastlines in East Arnhem Land to microplastics on beaches\, turtle hospitals\, stormwater systems\, supermarkets and Parliament House\, this documentary asks a confronting question: What if the real danger of plastic is not just out there in the ocean\, but already inside us? Featuring leading scientists\, campaigners\, Traditional Owners\, wildlife experts and decision makers\, The Plastic Country explores how Australia became one of the world’s highest plastic waste producers per person and what we can do to change course. This is not just a pollution story. It is a health story. A wildlife story. A story about country\, responsibility and the future we choose to create. \n🎞️Watch the trailer and find out more: theplasticcountry.com \n🕜Event run times: \n6:00pm Welcome and Introductions \n6:10pm Film screening (70 minutes) \n7:20pm Panel discussion and Q&A \n7:55pm Close of event \n🧺What to bring: BYO picnic rugs\, small camping chairs\, plastic-free snacks and drinks (think reusable drink bottles and containers from home!) \n🌤️Weather: This venue is weather-dependent. In the case of adverse weather\, the screening will be relocated to the Pottery Lane Performance Space\, with those who registered via Eventbrite given priority for admission. \n✋🏼Can’t make it but want to support the cause?\nHead to theplasticcountry.com to sign the petition on packaging waste and plastic pollution. If you would like to contribute financially\, you can make a donation of any amount at https://documentaryaustralia.com.au/project/the-plastic-country/

Entry is free and open to all residents.
