SUMMARY:The Man - JB Theatre Co
DESCRIPTION:Tax makes Ben anxious. As a sole trader\, he has hoarded every receipt from the year and now has to go through them all\, with the audience’s help. In this darkly funny one-man show\, every receipt tells a story\, and every audience member gets one too. People are called on at random to hand over their receipt\, and the performer delivers the matching monologue\, so no two nights unfold the same way. \nJo Bradley (SNOWFLAKE\, GIA OPHELIA) directs the Australian premiere\, by Olivier-Award winning playwright James Graham (DEAR ENGLAND\, INK\, QUIZ)\, produced by JB Theatre Co\, for a limited Australian premiere season in Lane Cove’s Pottery Lane Performance Space. \nThe show is part of Lane Cove Festival in partnership with Sydney Fringe\, and runs for four nights only. Rated M15+\, with coarse language and audience interaction\, including some physical contact. \nThe preview is Tuesday the 1st of September\, tickets are $25-35 and $35-44 for all other shows.

SUMMARY:All Things Must Pass: A Play About The Beatles
DESCRIPTION:All Things Must Pass is an intimate\, time-bending exploration of friendship\, fame\, grief\, and the legacy of music. In the wake of John Lennon’s death\, Ringo\, George\, and Paul each grapple with the loss of their brother-in-arms — the man who changed their lives and the world. \nAs memories blur with reality\, John drifts in and out of their minds\, appearing in fragments of laughter\, arguments\, and songs long finished. Ringo feels John’s presence most vividly\, haunted and comforted by the ghost of their bond. George retreats into his faith\, searching for peace through spirituality. Paul\, ever the perfectionist\, wrestles with how to move forward — both as an artist and as a man. \nThrough a series of heartfelt\, surreal\, and often darkly funny scenes\, the four Beatles — one living on in spirit — navigate the long and winding road of grief\, learning that even legends must face the truth that all things must pass. \nThis event is part of Lane Cove Festival in partnership with Sydney Fringe Festival.

SUMMARY:Algorithm of Us - BCD Theatre
DESCRIPTION:The Algorithm of Us is a satirical romantic comedy set under the fluorescent lights of corporate Australia. \nWe follow the story of Laari — a data analyst — who has spent five years in corporate Australia and is starting to wonder whether another dashboard is really going to fill the void. Professionally or existentially. Which becomes the least of her problems when her homemade AI agent sends a company-wide email and lands her on a project team she didn’t ask for\, and introduces her to Vee. Vee is a management consultant who represents everything she hates\, but she cannot stop talking to him. \nThe jargon. The town halls. The millions spent on consultants to tell you what your own team already knew. Oh and of course\, AI\, AI\, AI! We are all being asked to do more with less\, faster\, smarter\, and with a tool none of us fully understand yet. \nThis is a play about that. About what we sacrifice to stay relevant\, stay employed\, and stay sane in a system that is restructuring itself around us in real time. And about two people who see all of it completely differently — and can’t seem to look away from each other anyway. \nThis event is part of Lane Cove Festival in partnership with Sydney Fringe Festival.

SUMMARY:Moments in Music – Music from the Movies

Film scores can make comedy funnier\, build tension\, establish mood and heighten emotional impact\, often working so seamlessly that audiences barely notice the craft behind it. \nLocal musician Graham Ball leads a discussion on film music history and the composers who turned scoring into an art form in its own right. \nFree event\, bookings essential.

SUMMARY:ODIE (Best of Fringe)
DESCRIPTION:Homer’s Odyssey\, relocated to Sydney at 1am after the trains have stopped. \nOdie is a Queensland State of Origin hooligan stranded in the city with no way home. To get back to his missus Penny at the Ithaca Suites he has to resist the siren call of the pokies and charm a few ten foot sports-commentating sea monsters along the way. \nWritten and performed by Emrys Quin and directed by Emily Farrell\, ODIE is billed as high language\, low brow. It is a one man black comedy epic\, and it is very funny about modern Australian identity\, masculinity\, vice and mateship without going easy on any of them. \nODIE sold out its city season at the Emerging Artist Share House\, which is how it comes to Pottery Lane for an encore as part of Best of Fringe. \nWinner\, Adelaide Fringe 2026 Weekly Best of Theatre. Nominee\, Adelaide Fringe 2026 Best of Theatre Overall. Nominee\, Sydney Fringe Festival 2026 Best in Theatre. Five stars\, TheatreNow. \nRuns 1 hour. Rated M15+. Contains coarse language\, discussion of suicide\, depictions of violence and audience interaction. \nTickets $40. \nPart of Lane Cove Festival in partnership with Sydney Fringe

SUMMARY:That's Me In The Corner (Best of Fringe)
DESCRIPTION:There’s a guy in the corner of almost every Australian pub. \nHe’s got an acoustic guitar\, a slightly cooked PA system\, and 300 songs he can play on autopilot (maybe too confidently)\, while people yell at him. He knows how to read a room\, survive awkward requests\, and stretch “Wonderwall” for another chorus. \n“That’s Me in the Corner” is about that guy. An echo of Australia’s former pub muso glory. \nThe show follows local pub muso Gigz\, more Freddie Mercury than Barnsey\, trying to hold it together inside the sticky-floored chaos of the pub. Through live music and comedy\, Gigz unpacks the strange emotional world that exists behind the cover songs and pub banter. \nWhat starts as a familiar Friday-night pub set\, slowly becomes something far more profound. Beneath the jokes and jangling rock is a deeper reckoning with masculinity\, validation\, loneliness\, and live music culture. \nFunny\, uncomfortable\, and more nostalgic than a Bubble O’ Bill\, “That’s Me in the Corner” asks a simple question: In an ever fracturing world of algorithms\, streaming platforms\, and bedroom musicians do we still need the pub muso? \nThis event is part of Lane Cove Festival in partnership with Sydney Fringe Festival.

SUMMARY:Gia Ophelia (Best of Fringe) — JB Theatre Co
DESCRIPTION:Struggling with infertility and a stalled acting career\, Gia wants to play Ophelia one last time. \nWritten by Grace Wilson (NYC New Play Award Runner-up)\, Directed by Jo Bradley (Snowflake)\, and starring Annie Stafford (Stupid Fucking Bird)\, Gia Ophelia is a darkly comic one-woman satire\, skewering sexism and ageism in the arts. \nGia played Ophelia once when she was younger and fresh on the scene. And now she’s older\, and wiser\, and ready to give Ophelia one last crack. But she’s not the same youthful Gia she once was. Conflicted by the trials of motherhood\, infertility and her youth passing her by\, Gia must ask herself where her priorities lie and what it truly means to be a mother and an artist. \nWinner of the Emerging Artist Award and a finalist for Best in Theatre at Sydney Fringe 2025\, GIA OPHELIA returns for a limited season in 2026. A resounding\, rebounding palpable hit (Australian Stage)\, GIA OPHELIA is not to be missed. \n\n★★★★½ – What’s On Sydney \n★★★★½ – Stage Door Podcast \n★★★★ – Cultural Binge \n★★★★ – Spot on Sydney \n★★★★ – State of the Arts \nThis event is part of Lane Cove Festival in partnership with Sydney Fringe Festival.
