SUMMARY:Tannery Creek Habitat Walk
DESCRIPTION:Lane Cove Council invites bushland lovers to explore the forest habitat of Tannery Creek on Saturday 17 October\, guided by an owl expert from the Powerful Owl Project. The walk takes in Burns Bay Reserve in Riverview\, where lillypillies\, tree ferns and stunning Red Gums line the creek. \nPossums\, scrub-wrens and even the threatened Powerful Owl make use of the reserve. Walkers will learn how urban green corridors like this one help owls and other native species survive in a busy city. \nThe walk runs from 9:30am to 11:00am and is suitable for ages 10 and over. It is free\, but bookings are essential as spaces are limited.

SUMMARY:Buzz: Lane Cove Bush Kids
DESCRIPTION:Lane Cove Bush Kids turns to bees on Friday 23 October\, with a morning of storytelling\, a bushwalk and nature craft at Blackman Park Playground. Bees play an important role pollinating plants around the world\, and Australia has some special ones\, including a stingless native bee. \nLittle explorers aged 2 to 5 will discover what makes bees buzz\, then head off on a short bush walk before settling in to make something to take home. Each Bush Kids session includes a walk on unsealed bush tracks\, a craft activity and a story\, designed for children and the adults who come with them. \nThe session runs from 9:45am to 11:15am. Bookings are through Eventbrite\, and adults need a ticket too.
