Embroidery for Mindfulness Workshop
Friday 4th 11.30am and Saturday 5th 11.30am in the Members Lounge
“We are makers and creators by nature and we know this instinctively from the feelings of excitement at the thought of making something with our hands, be it cooking, knitting or gardening. What many people have forgotten is that creating with our hands is intrinsically linked to our well-being precisely because it is part of who we are by nature; creators. But our busy, digitized modern lifestyles with so many conveniences have moved us away from being those creators and closer to being consumers. Much has been written about the benefits of the mindfulness of crafting and Kasia Jacquot, Polish Embroidery artist and designer, will be sharing with us how her embroidery has benefited her emotionally, psychologically and spiritually and how you can benefit from it too. Come along to a talk by Kasia and hear her story of how she helped herself cope first as a refugee then as a migrant through craft. Kasia will bring her beautiful embroideries to demonstrate practical skills as well as the holistic benefits of her craft.”
Members free, guests $35
