Free Helping Learner Drivers Become Safer Drivers Workshop (also known as Graduated Licensing Scheme)

This free workshop provides practical advice about the role of supervising learner drivers and the value of on-road driving experience. Transport for NSW, in conjunction with local councils, offers the ‘Helping Learner Drivers Become Safer Drivers’ workshops in local government areas. This workshop is designed to support parents, relatives and friends in the supervision of a learner driver. This workshop reinforces the role of the supervising driver and the importance of the ‘stepped approach’ to allow learner drivers to get their initial driving experience under conditions involving lower risk and then gradually presenting them with more complex situations. It also highlights the importance of teaching ‘low risk driving’ techniques to learner drivers. The workshop also addresses the important role of parents in establishing parameters and support for provisional licence holders. The two hour workshop seeks to provide practical advice about; Supervising learner drivers Completing the Learner Driver Log Book Understanding the benefits and safety aspects of supervised on-road driving practice Understanding the licence conditions for learners and provisional licence holders Please contact Council’s Road Safety Officer on (02) 9911 3576 for more information.
