History Talk – Korea: Tuesday 16 April, 6:15pm – 7:30pm
Just five years after the end of World War Two, the Australian military were again called on to fight; this time in Korea. 17,000 Australians from the Army, Navy and Air Force were co-opted as part of the United Nations multinational force to defend South Korea from the Communist North. They served with pride and distinction, but in more recent times have been overlooked in Australian military heritage.
Lieutenant Colonel Craig Potter, ex-Australian Defence Force and Senior Minister at St Aidan’s Longueville, will discuss Australian and Commonwealth operations in Korea, including the role of the Royal Australian Regiments, 27th Commonwealth Brigade and the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.
