Lane Cove Art Society August Meeting – Special Guest Artist Rachel Carroll

The Lane Cove Art Society meets on the fourth THURSDAY of each month (except January and December) for a demonstration or talk. Our guest speakers are well-known artists, both traditional and contemporary, who show or explain techniques in a variety of media, or talk about the background to their involvement in art. The meetings are free and in the company of friendly, like-minded people

The meetings are held at the Living & Leisure Centre, 180 Longueville Rd Lane Cove (3 doors down from Gallery Lane Cove). (Map). The meetings start at 7:30pm with time to meet and talk prior to the demonstration

Rachel Carroll
Rachel is a Sydney based artist who has been painting for 20 years. Rachel explores themes that have an environmental significance, but rather than focus on the loss of species or habitat, Rachel has chosen to focus on the abundance. It has always been her aim to bring the “bush to the city”, in the hope that others will connect with nature. Carroll often camps in a new location on the Murray Darling River Basin every year and paints there to engage with nature, local bush rangers, scientists and the local Aboriginal tribe, if possible.Rachel also teaches, runs workshops in watercolour, acrylic or encaustic, and demonstrates to share her passion for nature and painting.
