The weeks leading up to the HSC can be the most stressful period of a young person’s life with so much pressure to achieve. In their role to guide and support their children, parents too are often affected by these stressors.
Learning With Confidence would like to invite you to a complimentary talk by Dr Leanne Wall, a highly experienced doctor, counsellor and coach, who will focus on empowering parents with the knowledge, skills and resources to be great role models for managing their child’s stress. She can advise parents how to create a psychologically safe home environment where teenagers feel comfortable to ask for support if they are struggling.
There are two opportunities to attend October 7 and October 14 from 6.30pm to 8pm the the LWC Tutoring rooms, 96 Longueville Road, Lane Cove.
If you would like to attend, please email here indicating which session would suit you best. Numbers are limited so a prompt reply will ensure your place.

Dr Leanne Wall MD, BSc., Grad Dip Counselling
Speaker, Educator, Accredited Facilitator, Doctor, Counsellor & Coach.

Leanne has first-hand knowledge of the significant pressures’ families can sometimes face during Year 11 and HSC exam time. Having two children of her own, one in university and one going into Year 12 in 2020, Leanne is fully aware of the stress teenagers can experience, not forgetting, of course, parents too. Parents frequently ask Leanne how they can support their teenagers through exam time and want to understand how they can manage their stress and worry and create a calm and supportive environment for their family.

Leanne is passionate about increasing awareness of the importance of deliberately focusing on our health (mentally, physically and emotionally) and the health of our teenagers. In the end, we all need to take personal responsibility for how we manage our stress, feelings of anxiousness, and how we show up in our family as a parent or teenager.

Leanne focuses on empowering parents with the knowledge, skills and resources to be great role models for managing their stress. She also shows parents how to create a psychologically safe home environment where teenagers feel they can ask for support and comfortable to raise their hands if they are struggling.

Leanne helps parents gain a greater awareness of how they are showing up at home and how stress can be detrimental if not managed. Leanne shares practical strategies to ensure that parents and teenagers can manage the day to day pressures they face at work/school and home.

With authenticity and humour, Leanne uses her medical and counselling background, together with neuroscience and evidence-based research to generate fresh insights into the acute stress response and how this can help and hinder our performance, both in our professional and personal lives.

In thought-provoking presentations and workshops, Leanne explains how our bodies function during short and long-term stress, the importance of being aware of our internal warning system when stress is becoming an issue and knowing when to raise our hand if we are struggling.

Leanne is an Accredited Facilitator for the Resilience@Work Program (Individuals, Teams and Leaders); an Accredited Practitioner of extended DISC Behavioural profiling, an Accredited Facilitator for Tuning in to Teens and Tuning in to Kids parent and carer programs, an Accredited Mental Health First Aider; an Associate Member of the International Coach Guild and a Member of Professional Speakers Australia.
