The very popular NSW Fire and Rescue Open Day is on again this year. Kids love visiting their local fire station and they go home with an activity pack.
The day is jam-packed with events. You can watch firefighting demonstrations, climb aboard a fire truck, find out about fire safety and meet the firefighters who make it happen.
Your kids will see the fire truck ladder in operation and have the chance to explore the whole fire station. The kids can check out the equipment, see the fire station’s pole and put on some safety gear.
Visitors can also speak to firefighters first-hand about fire safety in the home, including how to install and maintain smoke alarms and how to develop a home escape plan to ensure they can quickly and safely escape a fire.
It is a huge event across NSW with more than 80,000 people attending Open Day at their local fire station. The Lane Cove Fire Station (which is located in Artarmon) does not have an outside area, so the nearest fire station open day will be at the Crows Nest Fire Station on Shirley Road.
There is also a snag sizzle for charity (you feel safe having a bbq in a Fire Station).
If your kids love fire trucks, this is a must do event.
