25 May 2019 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
One event on 1 June 2019 at 10:00 am
Solarplates or photopolymer plates were first used by artists in the 1970’s and have become hugely popular worldwide. They are versatile and a safer way to create intaglio and relief prints.
Students will learn the many ways to expose plates in the sun and with the studio exposure unit. An alternative to the more hazardous printmaking processes students will explore drawing and painting techniques as well as using photographic images. All students will learn the simple way to prepare artwork for plate exposure and developing of plates. Once plates are prepared it is then about printing. Students will learn how to ink up and print using the studio etching press.
Using etching inks experience the various ways to print intaglio and relief to achieve a range of handmade prints.
Suitable for beginners through to more experienced printmakers.
