Maggie’s kitchen: finding courage and comfort in food. Screenwriter and producer, Caroline Beecham, will tell us about the writing of her first work of historical fiction, “Maggie’s Kitchen”. In her research, Caroline came upon the “communal feeding centres” known as the British Restaurants, instigated by the British Ministry of Food and run by local governments during the Second World War. In this highly researched novel, Maggie copes with her own grief by supporting others by the restorative power of food.
