WAIG member, Sonia Mrva-Montoya, came to Australia in her early twenties soon after finishing her university studies in Lima, Peru. Sonia was part of the first wave of young Latin American women who migrated to Australia. The 1970s were marked by political upheaval in Latin America, though Sonia’s choice to leave her country was personal. Sonia will speak about the processes of integration and adaptation to a new culture and society and about her professional contribution to secondary and tertiary education in Sydney.
