Annette Janic is the author of “War Child”, the true story of Magdalena (Leni) Janic, whose name appears on the Welcome Wall at Darling Harbour. Annette is a first-generation Australian, whose parents and older brother arrived in Australia under the International Refugee Organization program after World War 11. She was motivated to write her mother’s story, because she realised that, as we are losing our post-WW11 migrants and refugees, many of their rich, powerful and important stories will also be lost, unless they are shared with their children and passed on by them.
