Walking Meditation with Kath Fries

5 February 2022 @ 10:00 am - 10:45 am

Join Kath Fries for group walking meditation. Kath will guide you to focus your thoughts and embodied attention.

Walking meditation involves bringing your attention to your breathing and the movement of your body. Each footfall becomes a mindful connection with the present moment. Each step is an act of touching the Earth, connecting your body to the ground. Each breath brings the world, and the present moment, into your body, and then releases back into the world in a continuous cycle of exchange. To walk mindfully, rather than rushing from one place to another, is to walk meditatively, opening your awareness to the symbiosis that exists between yourself and your surroundings.

You are invited to join Kath Fries for group walking meditation. Kath will guide you to focus your thoughts and embodied attention. As you move across the ground in front of you and through the air around you, your movement is not just about the mind slowing down to meet the body, but the body also moving to meet the mind. This process of being attentive to your breathing and walking, allows each step to connect you more deeply to the Earth.

The event will start off inside the gallery located on level 3 164 Longueville Road, Lane Cove. From there everyone will walk together outside the Pottery Green just down the road. If there is heavy rain, the event will stay inside the gallery.

Please wear comfortable shoes, bring a mask, and a raincoat or umbrella in case there is light rain. Children are welcome to come if accompanied by an adult.
