Journalist, communications consultant, north shore resident and author, Suzanne Daniel will discuss her debut novel Allegra in Three Parts, in conversation with WAIG member Maria Zannetides. The book’s themes range from loss, grief, love and recovery, intergenerational relationships, workers’ rights, feminism, crisis housing, friendship, racism, and the role of men at a time a huge social change. It’s a lot to pack into the story of a girl, Allegra, approaching her teenage years during the second-wave women’s movement of the 1970s, and the adults in her life who love her a great deal but don’t get along with each other. And while it’s a work of fiction, Allegra In Three Parts is deeply researched, drawing from the history of the time and ultimately delivering a message of hope.
