SUMMARY:Dream and Reason: Paradoxes of the Sublime
DESCRIPTION:Someone from my past\, Wendy Sharpe\, Monotype Triptych\, 120 x 90 cm (Each panel)Photo John Fotiadis\nGallery Lane Cove presents Dream and Reason: Paradoxes of the Sublime\, a contemporary printmaking exhibition running from 18 August to 11 September. The show explores the Romantic idea of the sublime\, that unsettling mix of awe and fear found in nature’s vast\, overwhelming forces\, and examines where human reason meets the limits of what it can comprehend.\nArchibald and Sulman Prize winner Wendy Sharpe AM headlines with large-scale gestural monotypes in Gallery 1\, evoking the unease of 1950s film noir. Galleries 2 and 3 bring together five contemporary printmakers: Andrew Totman\, Juanita McLauchlan\, Salvatore Gerardi\, Annika Romeyn and Bridget Hillebrand\, each responding to nature\, ecology and the passage of time through the printmaking medium.\nThe exhibition also marks 60 years of the Australian Print Council and 65 years of the Sydney Printmakers. SUMMARY:Monoprinting Workshop with Andrew Totman
DESCRIPTION:Spend a day immersed in colour and technique with master printmaker Andrew Totman at Gallery Lane Cove. This hands-on workshop covers a range of monoprinting methods for producing layered\, bold multiple-plate prints\, with step-by-step demonstrations throughout the day.\n\nParticipants experiment with mark-making techniques from customary approaches to more experimental methods using paper stencils and found objects such as leaves or feathers. By the end of the session\, everyone takes home a small portfolio of unique prints.\n\nSuitable for both novices and more advanced students\, with Totman giving individualised attention throughout. Runs alongside the gallery’s Dream and Reason exhibition.

SUMMARY:BEYOND THE STRETCH : GENTLE HATHA YOGA
DESCRIPTION:Located at the brand new Galuwa recreational centre in Lane Cove\, 180 River Road\, Lane Cove \nThis inclusive yoga class holds a safe\, welcoming space for EVERY BODY – regardless of prior yoga experience\, how you look or how you feel. Permission-based and kind\, this gentle Hatha Yoga class offers a chance to slow down\, reconnect with yourself and experience yoga as a practice for the mind and heart as much as the body. \nWith breath\, movement and mindfulness you can look forward to prioritizing calm awareness. Physical postures support the body\, but they are not the end goal. Instead\, the practice gently settles the mind and nervous system\, offering benefits that extend well beyond the mat and into daily life. \nLed with creativity\, curiosity and intrinsic joy\, this class invites mindful connection – helping students feel grounded with a sense of ease\, both on and off the mat. \nWhat you may notice most is not how far you can stretch … but how you feel after the class. \nWe look forward to welcoming you. \nWHAT TO BRING \nPLEASE NOTE: Yoga props help support the body and make the practice feel so much more nourishing. \nWe do not currently have props in the Yoga space so please bring a yoga mat and a large blanket or towel for the class. \nAny extra props you’d like to bring along (like blocks and a bolster or pillow) will go a long way in enhancing your practice. \nDee Reddy grew up in India and now calls Sydney home. Her classes offer a warm\, gentle and nurturing space to slow down and reconnect — a practice for the mind and heart as much as the body. \nTrained in Restorative\, Hatha\, Yin\, Tantra Hatha\, Somatic\, and Trauma-Aware Yoga\, Dee blends mindfulness\, compassion\, and gentle curiosity into every session. She hopes each student leaves her classes feeling calmer\, softer\, and more at home in themselves. Her biggest joy is working with and for her local community. \nWhen she’s not teaching\, Dee can be found knitting\, reading\, drinking chai\, or doting on her rescue pussycat\, Tinsel.

SUMMARY:Inaugural Winter Salon
DESCRIPTION:This June\, Gallery Lane Cove + Creative Studios proudly presents the inaugural Winter Salon\, an exhibition featuring artists working across a diverse range of media and at all stages of their careers. \nThe Winter Salon was born from a simple idea: that great art deserves a wall to live on. Each year\, the gallery meets talented artists whose work would make a beautiful contribution to the program but who aren’t seeking a full solo or group show of their own. The Winter Salon offers something in between that brings many voices together under one roof. \nA salon in the truest sense\, a gathering of diverse voices\, curated for a cohesive show\, the exhibition brings together painting\, sculpture\, photography\, textile\, print and beyond into one richly layered presentation. It is also an exhibition designed for visitors who love to discover\, with surprising juxtapositions\, fresh names alongside familiar ones and the kind of variety that rewards a slow\, considered visit.
