SUMMARY:Ventemans Reach and Lovetts Reserve Guided Bushwalks
DESCRIPTION:Lane Cove Bushland & Conservation Society leads guided walks through two very different local ecologies on Sunday 20 September\, with expert guides identifying native plants and sharing the history of the area along the way.\n\nThe 9am Ventemans Reach walk heads down to the river through sandstone woodland\, crossing a boardwalk to reach the most extensive and diverse wetland community in Lane Cove\, with views over sedge marshes and mangroves. The 11am Lovetts Reserve walk climbs the ridge south of Blackman Park for expansive river views\, passing mossy sandstone cliffs\, sundews and beautiful sandstone vegetation.\n\nEach walk runs 1.5 hours and can be booked separately\, though the Society recommends both to compare the river flats with the drier hillside. Both walks return to Blackman Park\, where there’s a short break with toilets and picnic facilities before the second walk begins.

Clean-ups are a great way to bring the community together\, raise awareness\, and start the conversation about reducing litter at the source. \nClean Up Australia Day is celebrating 35 years of encouraging the protection of our local environment\, with over 23 million people joining in! Get involved with Lane Cove Council’s popular HarbourCare program whilst contributing to the huge country-wide efforts of Clean Up Australia Day this March. \nAll ages welcome\, low – moderate fitness required. Registration required. \nBags\, gloves and litter pickers provided. \nBYO water and snack. \nPlease wear enclosed footwear and sun-smart clothing. \nPlease do not attend on the day if you are feeling unwell or have any cold/flu symptoms. \nThe event will commence from Blackman Park\, Lane Cove West and progress around the foreshore and bushland surroundings before returning to our starting location.
