SUMMARY:Fix-it Hub June 2026
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Fix-It Hub\, your go-to destination for all things repair and sustainability. \nAt Fix-It Hub\, we believe in the power of fixing\, preserving\, and promoting a more sustainable way of living. \nPLEASE NOTE: All items must be clean. We can’t sharpen saws or serrated knives or weld & we don’t repair underwear\, bicycles\, electronics or watches. We can repair one item per timeslot. \nTo ensure we can provide the best service and experience for all\, it is essential to book your repair sessions in advance. This not only helps us manage our resources efficiently but also ensures that we can cater to your specific repair needs effectively. To help make sure everyone has a chance to book in\, we kindly ask that you limit your booking to one timeslot per person. \nWHAT WE FIX: \nFurniture/Miscellaneous: chairs\, shoes\, toys – we’ll try to fix any small item you can carry in (not jewellery). \nClothing repair: hems (have the length marked)\, elastic\, seams etc. Not zips in trousers. \nHand sewing: mending tears in clothes\, jumpers etc. \nElectrical (small appliances): toasters\, lamps\, coffee machines\, blenders etc. \nKnife/tool sharpening: knives (not serrated)\, secateurs\, garden shears etc. \nJewellery: when we have timeslots for jewellery we can repair costume jewellery only. \nAt Fix-It Hub\, we firmly believe that the journey of repair should be accessible to all. That’s why all fixes provided by our dedicated volunteers are free of charge. If a specialised part is needed to complete your fix please do bring it along with you or ask our team where you can purchase this from in advance of a follow-up session. \nFix-It Hub happens on the second Saturday of each month\, 10:30am to 1pm\, in The Mess Hall at The Coal Loader. \nRepairing and Renewing Together \nWe are committed to fostering a community of repair enthusiasts\, and we encourage our customers to stick around during their 20-minute sessions. By doing so\, you not only get to witness the magic of your item being revived but also have the opportunity to lend a hand\, learn something new\, and share your own skills with others. \nVolunteers \nWe wholeheartedly welcome volunteers who share our passion for repair. To become a volunteer\, please fill out this form. \nProudly organised by North Sydney Council and delivered by The Sydney Library of Things \nThis is a North Sydney Council event\, run in collaboration with our friends at The Sydney Library of Things. Together\, through this series\, we continue in our mission to promote sustainability\, reduce waste\, and empower our community through repair. Together\, we can fix it and make a lasting impact on our environment. \nWhile you are at The Coal Loader be sure to also pop into The Sydney Library of Things\, our local sharing hub for extremely useful but only occasionally used items. Why buy when you can borrow?

SUMMARY:The Regenerative Kitchen Garden Series - Design with Nature
DESCRIPTION:Soil with Substance\, Food with Flavour – The Regenerative Kitchen Garden Series.Unlock the secrets to growing the most nutrient-rich\, flavourful produce right in your own backyard. \nMost gardening courses teach you how to grow plants; this workshop series teaches you how to cultivate a living ecosystem. Join us for a deep dive into Regenerative Horticulture\, a method that goes beyond “organic” to actively restore the health of your soil\, increase local biodiversity\, and produce vegetables with record-breaking flavour and nutrient content. \nOver three immersive sessions\, we move from the big-picture design to the microscopic magic of soil biology\, finishing with the practical skills needed to harvest and sustain a thriving garden. \nWhat’s on the plate: \n\nSession 1. 6th June 2026: Design with Nature. Learn to read your land’s unique thumbprint to create a low-maintenance\, high-yielding garden layout that works with the environment\, not against it.\nSession 2 13th June 2026: The Underground Revolution. Discover the “Soil Food Web.” We’ll move past chemical fertilizers and explore No-Dig techniques\, compost\, and mineral balancing—the keys to growing food that is medicine.\nSession 3\, 27th June 2026: Seed\, Feed\, and Harvest. Learn the art of stress-free propagation\, natural pest management through biodiversity\, and the “Brix” secrets of harvesting for peak nutrition and taste.\n\nThere is a practical component utilising the community garden infrastructure at the Coal Loader and this will carry across the three sessions\, therefore we aim to prioritise participants who are available to attend the three workshop sessions in order to get the most out of this series. \n  \nWhy Join Us? \n  \nWhether you have a sprawling backyard or a few raised beds\, you will walk away with a personalized \ngarden plan and the confidence to grow produce that looks\, smells\, and tastes better than anything you can \nbuy.
