The A-Z of Lane Cove – G is for Gelato!

You scream, I scream, we all scream for ……well, gelato! And our shouts were heard, last year, when not one, but two tempting gelaterias opened at Lane Cove Plaza.

Gelatissimo was first cab off the rank, opening in September 2014, and has ensured a chocolately smile on the faces of local kids since then. The amiable Bruce is usually in store, greeting his regulars and offering taste-tests with a smile. Gelatissimo also sell coffee, and gelato accompaniments, like brownies and waffles.

Two months later, in the site formerly occupied by Sunny’s Kitchen, opened Meno Diciotto Gelateria. The branding promised a more grown-up take on gelato, and they do not disappoint. Their Choc Caramel Praline flavour is well worth the calories IMHO! Meno Diciotto also have coffee, soup, and a tempting range of cannoli.  You can find out about the back story behind Meno here.

But before the gelato wars commenced on the plaza, there was another place ITC to get your fix – at Zest Gelateria Café, on Longueville Road. Zest are quietly doing their thing, on the corner of Lane Cove Arcade, making their own gelato, and offering it by the scoop, or in a frappe, milkshake, iced coffee etc, and you can pre-order gelato cakes from them too.
