With new menu items, and several upcoming events at Lodge, this October and November are gearing up to be busy for owners, Matt and Marketa. Now that the warmer weather seems to have settled in, Lodge’s lunch menu will welcome the additions of two new burgers – Mexican chicken served with beer battered chips, and Spinach & Ricotta served with a side salad. Speaking of salads, there are four new healthy and hearty salads on the menu (including a warm wild rice salad which sounds divine!). Don’t worry, many of the favourites are still remaining on the menu due to popular demand.
Continuing on the healthy theme, did you know that Marketa makes many of the wonderful gluten, dairy and egg free treats and desserts on site at Lodge? If you haven’t already, you should pop along to try one (even the kids will love them – as long as you don’t mention the word healthy!).
Starting in October, Lodge will be hosting a special charity day every third Thursday of the month, to raise funds and awareness for a good cause (if you have a local charity you’d like to nominate, please contact Matt at Lodge). This coming Thursday, 22 October, Lodge will be hosting a Pink Ribbon Breakfast, to help raise funds for breast cancer awareness. Choose to eat from the special $25 menu on the day, which includes a choice of main breakfast dish, juice, tea or coffee, and a sweet sample plate to share. Lodge will be donating 50% of funds from the Pink Ribbon menu to the Cancer Council. You can check out the event page on ITC here.
If you love the Hunter Valley as much as we do, here’s your chance to sample a delicious 5 course meal showcasing produce from the region, along with hand-picked matching wines from Keith Tulloch Wines. Lodge’s Hunter Valley Food and Wine night on Thursday 29 October, is sure to be a great local event, with more than 50% of tickets already sold. What’s more, well respected wine maker – Keith Tulloch will host the evening, and talk about wine and life in the Hunter (he’s a very charismatic man if you’ve had the pleasure of meeting him at his cellar door!). Last but not least, Melbourne Cup is coming in 3 weeks (Tuesday 3 November), and ITC attended this luncheon at Lodge last year with a big group, and had a ball. This event will book out quickly, so be sure to get your friends or work colleagues together to book a table. Tickets are $52 per person including a two course lunch, a glass of bubbles, sweeps, and prizes for best dressed (so don’t forget to dust of the fascinator!). There will be a big screen showing the race at the Green, you can contact Lodge on 9420 1629 for bookings.
Don’t forget, the kids are always welcome at Lodge, in fact, they eat free from a special junior menu every night from 5pm (when adults eat from the main menu). If you’re like us, and sometimes need a pick me up at the end of the day, Lodge also has Happy Hour from 4-6pm daily, where you can enjoy $5 selected beers and wines, $10 cocktails, and $10 tapas menu (I don’t think it’s a secret that we love the spicy sweet potato fries!). While Lodge is fully licenced, they do allow BYO wine to accompany your meal for lunch and dinner.
