Curvy

We welcome to the Lane Cove West Business Park a Lane Cove family run business. The family behind Curvy live in Lane Cove North and work in the Lane Cove West Business Park (so they are Lane Cove all the way!!).

Curvy sells lingerie online; specialising in harder to find sizes (D to K Cup). They are offering free collection and returns at Storage King Lane Cove (did you know that numerous lane cove businesses use Storage King Lane Cove as their office/warehouse/distribution centre?). They also sell Robyn Lawley Swimwear (from size 10 to 20). So check out their website and support a Lane Cove family.

Upswing

Lane Cove now has a new Co-Working Child Care business called Upswing.  If you are a small business owner, freelancer, entrepreneur, consultant, student, writer, creative or a parent who needs a couple of hours to focus on your home admin tasks (paying bills, writing emails, or other home admin tasks) this is the child care solution for you. While you work in a designated work area, your child/children will be looked after in the same Lane Cove venue by a qualified carer in a fun environment. Your child must be between 6 weeks and 6 years old. They also have a special offer for ITC followers.

BarBlaq

The bar above The Cake Man – Lane Cove will be Bar Blaq. It opened for one night and then due to paperwork issues, they had to close.  When they reopen they will be serving cocktails and will have an appetiser menu to enjoy with a cocktail or glass of wine. The owners are two Lane Cove locals. We will let you know when it reopens.

Swim with a Smile – Adult Swimming Lessons

Swim with a Smile may arguably be Lane Cove’s best kept secret. In fact, the business has been very discreetly running already for 2 years out of Lane Cove Physio on Longueville Road!

Petrina specializes in adult swim tuition in a completely private environment, running 1:1 lessons 7 days a week in a warm hydrotherapy pool leased for exclusive use, outside of physio business hours.  Her service recognises people’s embarrassment of learning how to swim as an adult in a public pool and there is a comprehensive range of beginner and improver courses to address various abilities and swimming goals.

Loving Care Mobile Vet

How great is this service! Loving Care Mobile Vet offer a mobile veterinary service around Lane Cove, Hunters Hill and the Ryde area.  Tonia will look familiar to you – she has worked locally for years and now she comes to your home.  This is the service for the time poor – Tonia told us she has attended to a pet while the owner was holding a conference call!!  It is also a great service for people who may have mobility issues.

Raw Lounge Cafe – A Roving Reporter alerted us to a new cafe, located just across the highway in Artarmon. They told us that the Raw Lounge serve “delicious healthy salads, have friendly staff. I thought the residents of Lane Cove could do with knowing about it since it’s so close it’s almost ITC… Check it out it also has a gym”

Opening Soon

Greenwich Village Espresso –  is currently  only open during the day. Greenwich Village Espresso will soon be open for dinner, from Wednesday-Sunday, commencing Wednesday the 4th of May.

Cafe in Lane Cove North – Soon the residents of Lane Cove North will have another coffee shop!!  We think (but have not yet confirmed this) that the coffee shop will be operated by the same people as Cafe Geo. It’s located where the old bakery used to be, in Lane Cove North on Mowbray Road, just near The Mowbray Road Cellars and Cafe Geo.

New Ownership and/or Rebranded/Moved

Sydney Speech Clinic – Local Speech Pathologist (and ITC Guest Blogger), Catherine Lavery, has recently rebranded her Lane Cove practice to now be known as Sydney Speech Clinic. The clinic has also moved premises, to the First Floor, at 102-104 Longueville Road, Lane Cove.

Bumble B’s – Dinner with The Cake Man has been rebranded as Bumble B’s, with a re-vamped menu, and kitschy bumble bee salt and pepper shakers on the tables

Winning Results – Created to help women “gain their healthy body blueprint”, Winning Results have moved from Lane Cove North, to a new location in Northwood, and have a gorgeous new onsite studio too.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Superstar Connect 

SP Mobile  is now called Superstar Connect. Located on the corner of Lane Cove Village, on Burns Bay Road (opposite Coles), they are a Vodafone Independent Dealer. Read more about the businesses located in the Village Shopping Centre here.

One Seed Patisseries is under new management. They are closed for renovations and will reopen mid May. Rumour is that the chef is a whiz with bread.

Closing or Closed

Art of Beauty – We are sad to report that Donna, the lovely lady who had the reputation of doing the “best eyebrows” in Lane Cove, has moved interstate. Donna lived and worked in Lane Cove for more than 20 years.

For those ladies looking for a replacement brow-expert, we know the ladies here can help.

Milestones

Dance Sensation Performing Arts Studio is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The school was first opened in 1996 by Director Elizabeth Cooper and still operates from its original location on Farran St, Lane Cove, as well as the school’s recently opened second studio space in Ermington.

Offering an array of dance styles to students as young as 18 months all the way to adults, Dance Sensation has grown from two teachers and a handful of young students to nine teachers and over five hundred class enrolments.

The school has long been involved in local community events over the years working with local schools, local council and local aged care facilities enabling students to refine their performance skills whilst giving back to the community.

A number of exciting events have been planned for Dance Sensation students and the local community in celebration of the schools 20^th anniversary including competitions, open days, a community picnic and a special 20th-anniversary concert.

Stain Lane Cove

Stain Lane Cove is taking their restaurant/cafe to the next level. The delightful Tasia from Stain Hunters Hill has relocated to Stain Lane Cove and will be working with the staff to bring some exciting new concepts and plans to Stain Lane Cove. ITC was a bit excited when we heard all her plans (so stay tuned). Stain now opens for dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday 5.30-9.30pm. Tasia was a driving force on the Hunters Hill restaurant scene and was one of the people who helped put together the Hunters Hill Street Feast (ITC would love to see something like that in Lane Cove).

Cellarbrations Lane Cove

Cellarbrations in Lane Cove is an independent business. “Cellarbrations” is a buying group of independent retailers the same as IGA and Mitre 10. The store opened in December 2012 and they support many small wineries. Paul, the owner, was named Liquor Store Owner of the Year in 2015 by the NSW Liquor Stores Association.

If you want to match food and wine pop down to the store. The Store manager, Guy, is a chef by trade and enjoys selecting wine to go with the particular cuisine at a local eatery. He will even give you cooking tips. Cellarbrations has over 1,000 different wines in their store and probably the best craft beer selection in Lane Cove. They can also help with functions and party orders.
