The latest in our Local Area Spotlight series is on the somewhat eclectic, and geographically dispersed group of businesses along Mowbray Road in Lane Cove North. Read on, and you may discover a new fav cafe; the place to sort out that broken lawn mower; or somewhere to top up your biltong stash.
H.G. Motors and Service Station
H.G. Motors is an automotive service centre which was established in 1989. It is located next door to Metro Petroleum.
Blue Water Car Wash
Also located at Metro Petroleum is Blue Water Car Wash. Blue Water used to be located at the Caltex Service on Burns Bay Road in Lane Cove West.
West Chatswood Library
You may not have realised that there is a another library in Lane Cove (apart from the main one in the centre of town, and Greenwich Library. Yep, there is one in Lane Cove North too, though it is called West Chatswood Library.
They have regular events, including:
– Storytime for preschoolers (3-6 years) is held on Thursdays during school terms, 10.30am – 11.15am.
– West Chatswood Library Book Club meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, 12.30pm – 2pm.
Mowbray Eatery is located on the corner of Felton Avenue and Mowbray Road, Lane Cove North, next door to West Chatswood Library.
Previously called Stain, the cafe was rebranded in July 2016. Mowbray Eatery focuses on seasonal and fresh ingredients and is supported and supports the Lane Cove community!
Open for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week and a changing weekly dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights 5.30-9.3pm.
Located next to Mowbray Public School, Cubbyhouse Childcare is a “safe, friendly and nurturing environment where your child has the opportunity to explore, discover, play, learn and grow at their own pace.”
There is long day care, vacation care and OOSH.

When they opened in November 2015, Cafe Geo served up family friendly pizza and pasta. Since then, they have extended their opening hours, and are now plating up Instagram worthy breakfasts and brunches too, not to mention barista made coffee and a drool-worthy selection of sweet treats.

The Mowbray Road Cellars is a “Boutique Wine Shop”, which is open 7 days a week.

The Thai is a Thai takeaway restaurant, which is part of a small Sydney chain.
The gang at Cafe Geo has opened a Kebab Shop, just around the corner from their Cafe/Restaurant.
Fremder Automotive is a full service mechanics, which has been operating in Lane Cove since 1988.
CBS Lane Cove
CBS, or Car Beauty Salon, are complete auto body repair specialists.
Denmor Automotive Services
Denmor Automotive Services is a family owned garage, which has been a part of the Lane Cove community since 1968. They service & repair all makes & models.
Lane Cove Mowers
Lane Cove Mowers offer sales, service and repairs for lawn mowers. They will even pick-up and deliver.
Happy Kids Kindergarten
Happy Kids Kindergarten Lane Cove is a long day care centre which has been operating since 1987 and provides quality care for children.
Springbok Delights was founded in 2000 by South African ex-pats, who came to Australia in 1997 and soon realised there was a need for proper South African delicacies such as Biltong and Boerewors.
Their gourmet butchery specialises in South African style meat cuts and marinated products like Sosaties, Texan Steaks and of course Biltong and Boerewors.
The cellar at Springbok Delights has arguably the biggest range of South African beer, wine and spirits in NSW (if not Australia). They also have a fresh Fruit and Veg department and of course loads of imported South African groceries.
Cafe 652 is a cafe by day and pizzeria at night.
