Longueville Car Jacking

Residents of Kenneth Street Longueville were shocked yesterday to see police door knocking after a carjacking took place in Longueville.

At around 5:40am on Tuesday 5th March an employee of a Longueville business parked their car in Christina Street and began walking to her work on Kenneth Street.

As she crossed Christina Street the woman was grabbed from behind and pulled to the ground by two male offenders. The woman wrestled with the two males before being held down, the offenders demanded the woman’s car keys and phone. The offenders managed to take these items from the victim before fleeing in her red Hyundai Getz.

The victim ran to her nearby workplace and alerted other staff who phoned triple zero. The woman was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

An investigation has been launched, police believe an incident occurring earlier that morning where a high performance Audi, stolen during a break and enter last year, evaded police in nearby Wisdom Road, Greenwich and was later dumped in the driveway of a home on Richardson Street East, Greenwich may be linked to the assault and vehicle theft on Christina Street, Longueville.

This incident is addition to the break and enters in Riverview on 2 March 2019. Three cars were broken and spare keys to the vehicles were stolen. There was also reports that a an Audi Car Dealer was also broken broken into and keys stolen.

Some of the shops located at the Riverview Shops were also broken into with thieves ransacking offices looking for cash.

Other Local Incidents Drink driving x 2 – Lane Cove

A 40 year old woman from Lane Cove has been charged with drink driving twice in a period of 5 hours, on one occasion the woman was stopped with a nine year old child also travelling in the vehicle.

Around 11:10pm Tuesday 5th March police were conducting random breath testing on the Pacific Highway, Artarmon. At this time they directed a white car allegedly being driven by the Lane Cove woman into the breath testing site, the woman failed to stop as directed but pulled over a short distance past police. Police spoke with the woman, who at this time had the child travelling in the vehicle with her.  Police submitted the woman to a roadside test which returned a positive result. The woman was arrested and taken to Chatswood Police Station for the purpose of a breath analysis. At the station breath analysis returned a reading of 0.128 grams of alcohol in her breath, she was served with an immediate licence suspension notice and charged with 1 count of driving with mid range prescribed concentration of alcohol and 1 count of resist officer in execution of duty.

Around 4:20am Wednesday 6th March police were patrolling the Pacific Highway, Lane Cove when they observed a white car being driven north along the highway. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, however police will allege the driver proceeded through a red traffic signal before finally coming to a stop in Osborne Road, Lane Cove. Police will allege the driver exited the vehicle and where they identified it to be the Lane Cove woman. She was submitted to a roadside breath test which returned a positive result. The woman was again arrested and taken to Chatswood Police Station. This time returning a breath analysis of 0.086 grams of alcohol in her breath. She was charged with a second count of driving with mid range prescribed concentration of alcohol, driving while licence suspended and proceeding through a red traffic light. She was refused bail to face Hornsby Local Court this week.

Electronic Music Event Drug Supply – North Sydney

On Sunday 3rd March police conducted an operation at an electronic music event in North Sydney, targeting the supply and possession of prohibited drugs by patrons of the event.

Around 4:30pm police patrolling the venue stopped and spoke to a 28 year old male from Bondi Junction, police formed the belief the male was in possession of prohibited drugs and subsequently informed him that he would be searched. Police will allege that at this point the male produced a bag from within his underwear stating that it contained MDMA. The male was arrested and taken to Chatswood Police Station. Police examined the bag and found it contained more than 115 pills believed to be MDMA.

The male was charged with supplying a commercial quantity of a prohibited drug. He was granted conditional bail to appear before Manly Local Court later this month.
