The A-Z of Lane Cove – J is for JP

jp Lane Cove Justice of the Peace

One of the questions that ITC gets asked the most is “Where can I find a Justice of the Peace (JP) in Lane Cove?”

Some of you might be thinking – why would I need a JP?! Well, the main functions of a NSW registered JP are to:

– witness a person making a statutory declaration
– witness a person making an affidavit
– certify that a copy of an original document is a true and accurate copy

If you would like more information about what JP’s do, you can find out here.

So, where do you find a Justice of the Peace in Lane Cove?

Lane Cove Council – “To provide residents with a more predictable JP service, you can now have your documents witnessed by a JP at the Lane Cove Council Civic Centre Monday to Friday between 12:00pm to 1:00pm.

Also in the library, on Mondays between 6pm-8pm, community-minded local solicitors Fay Frischer and James Shevlin and are available to sign any document that requires witnessing by a Justice of the Peace, as part of the generous free legal sessions they provide each week.

Sydney Community Services have a JP on Mondays between 2 and 4 pm.
