At Figtree Vet Clinic, we are proud to be a part of the Lane Cove community. Our staff are committed to the welfare and care of the local animals, whether domesticated pets or wildlife. As a part of the wider veterinary community, we are acutely aware of the pressures facing our rural counterparts and their communities.
The current drought affecting much of Eastern Australia is having a marked impact on the welfare of people and animals living under these conditions. Pressures to feed and water stock, health and welfare of drought-affected stock and reduced production and income are uniquely tied-in with the physical and mental health of people in drought-affected communities.
Living in suburban Sydney, it can be easy to forget the pressures facing many of our fellow Australians. We can all do our bit by minimising personal water-consumption, following water restrictions, buying Australian and local produce and raising awareness. You could also consider doing some shopping from rural-based small businesses for your Christmas gifts and donating to registered charities.
Santa Paws Photo Day 30 November 2019
One of our favourite times of the year at Figtree Vet Clinic,is our Santa Paws photo day. We love seeing our patients and their humans, plus meeting new people from our area. With lots of festive cheer, our photographer Keefe takes brilliant photos of his furry (or feathered or scaley!) subjects with Santa. Our staff cook up a tasty BBQ, bake up a storm and are on hand with lots of treats and cuddles for our visiting pets. This year we have chosen to support Buy A Bale.
All proceeds from our event will be donated to this charity, supporting Australian Farmers. Donations will be used to provide fodder and water for animals, groceries for rural families, as well as financial assistance and counselling.
