Police Search for Lane Cove West Man Involved in an Incident in Burns Bay Reserve

Update: This article has been updated on 22 June 2020.  See last paragraph.

On Friday 19th June 2020, numerous police, POLAIR and the dog unit were searching for a Lane Cove West Man after an incident in Burns Bay Reserve.  Burns Bay Reserve is easily accessed by both Riverview and Lane Cove West residents.

The Police Media Unit advised ITC of the following:

“Just after 9 pm last night (Friday 19 June 2020), officers from North Shore Police Area Command were called to Burns Bay Reserve at Riverview, after reports a man was seen armed with a sword.

Police have been told a man had pushed a fisherman in the water at the Riverview boat ramp before threatening two other fishermen with the sword. He was then seen returning to a nearby unit.

Police attended the home and seized the sword; however, the man could not be located despite an extensive search of the area with the assistance of Polair and the Dog Unit.

Inquiries continue.”

Last night, several Burns Bay Road residents wrote on ITC Lane Cove Chat that they could hear people yelling out that a man had a sword and the police should be called.

Polair circled over Riverview, Lane Cove and Linley Point.
