Lane Cove Dog Owner Upset Over Dog Poisoning Threat

A Lane Cove local, who has lived in the same house in Lane Cove North for 35 years, was upset to discover that a neighbour was threatening to poison her dog.

This morning (19th April 2021), at around 6.30 am, the dog owner let her dog out for a short run in the backyard.  Usually, the dog returns within a few minutes, but this time the dog did not return.   The owner found her dog eating a bone. The bone was approx 20 cms in length. On the ground next to the dog was a sealed envelope with a letter (see our cover photo).

The owner rang the emergency vet, who told her to come directly to their premises so that vomiting could be induced within 1 hour.  The vet could not confirm the bone was, in fact, laced with poison.

The owner also rang the police, who attended the scene and interviewed neighbours.  They took away the note to undergo DNA testing.

The owner was shocked by the neighbour’s actions.  They have never been approached about concern over the dog barking.

Anyone with information about this incident or who has dashcam vision is urged to contact Chatswood Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The dog is fine, but very subdued tonight.  The owner had to pay $800 in vet bills as she went to an emergency vet early this morning.
